Religion, Nations, and Geopolitical Review: SATURDAY, JULY 9

by A. Joseph Lynch

ASSASSINATION OF SHINZO ABE: Japan's greatest statesmen of the post-war has been murdered. While we await more information on the assassin, we've heard some rumors the killing was tied to Abe's promotion of Japan's national religion: Shintoism. This would not surprise us as Abe sought in many ways to "make Japan great again." Though different in style, his civic and religious nationalism place him much more in the vein of a Putin or a Trump - which might be way certain media outlets are trying to vilify him in his death. Abe wanted to see Japan return to its roots, embracing its historic Shinto faith while re-emerging as a nation with a fully restored military. He felt the nation had done enough apologizing for World War II - and he was right. Shinzo Abe was the best leader Japan had. He will be sorely missed.

FALL OF BORIS JOHSON: Another G7 leader, however, will not be missed: Boris Johnson the clown prime minister of the UK. Though officially his fall has to do with a sex scandal in parliament, the real real is found in the UK's collapsing economy. Living standards in the UK have dropped to their lowest point since modern tracking in the 1950s began. Sadly what none will recognize is the fact that UK's economy is underwater because of the sanctions war with Russia. As we await the emergence of a new prime minister, it is regrettable to report that no successor to Johnson will break with the policies that are bring the UK to economic ruin. And while we're talking about the UK, it's been reported that the most popular baby boy name in the kingdom is... Muhammad. Let that sink in.

PUTIN SAYS "LET THEM TRY": During a Kremlin speech this week, Vladimir Putin had some words to say about NATO involvement in Ukraine and the need to reach a peace agreement soon:
“Today we hear that they want to defeat us on the battlefield. What can you say? Let them try. We have heard many times that the West wants to fight us to the last Ukrainian. This is a tragedy for the Ukrainian people, but it seems that everything is heading towards this. Everyone should know that, by and large, we haven’t started anything yet in earnest. At the same time, we don’t reject peace talks. But those who reject them should know that the further it goes, the harder it will be for them to negotiate with us.”
Putin wants to be clear - Russia is winning the war and Russia will win the war. Russia has successfully fought outnumbered 3 to 1 and has yet to unleash the full fury of its military. Everyday Ukraine loses more territory, everyday their position at the negotiating table gets weaker. Putin is warning that if peace talks are delayed to long, there might not be Ukraine left.

SHOOTING IN CHICAGO SUBERB: A shooting in a north Chicago suburb took place on July 4. In many ways it - like the tragic assassination of Shinzo Abe - reveals the weakness of gun control laws. Whereas in Japan the shooter killed the former prime minster with a homemade shotgun, the Highland Park killer had a previous record of mental illness and endangering others with weapons - yet the state of Illinois still handed him multiple guns. More from Jimmy Dore (language warning). And of course the real question isn't guns, it's why are our young men so poorly socialized and formed as men that they take such actions?

BIDEN'S CHINA OIL SCANDAL: It appears that Joe Biden might have given a portion of the US petroleum reserves - where are for use only in times of emergency - to a Chinese energy company with investment ties to his son, Hunter. More from Dr. Steve Turley.
